6 Anime Like Berserk 2016 [Recommendations]

When you watch a TV show or a movie that’s in the action genre, what are the things you want to see in it? Skull cracking, bone-chilling, top notch fighting scenes, or an endless amount of blood, gore, and violence that would make Dexter sit down with a bowl of popcorn and just watch all the carnage happen?

Now, of course, there has to be a good story and interesting characters to make you care about what is going on in the screen. In the world of anime, that’s hardly ever a problem.

With movies or television, they have to rely on a budget, sometimes the CGI doesn’t exactly hit the mark of satisfaction, or violence is cut out entirely because of the MPAA not wanting to go as far as they want. But in anime, you don’t have to worry about such things. You can go as far with everything as the eye can see.

Don’t believe me? Well, take a long, hard good look at this year Berserk. It has the reputation of being very bloody and violent.

Guts is on a journey through blood and death. He fights through many monsters and demons that want him dead. With his sword, known as the dragonslayer, he will exact vengeance on someone he used to call his friend.

It’s probably wrong to say that the violence, blood, and gore was beautiful to look at. Describing the action wouldn’t do it any justice. Yes, you have to watch this anime if you haven’t by now.

I bet I caught your attention by now and want more of this kind of anime. You’re in luck since I have 6 Animes Like Berserk (2016)

Now we go from one medieval setting anime to another medieval anime.

Long ago, during ancient times humans coexisted with demonic beasts known as the Yoma. They take appearances as humans and kill whatever stands in their way. Warriors called Claymore, half humans half-Yoma, were created to take on the Yoma, however, they are detested by humans.

In the aftermath of the Yoma, a young boy named Raki is saved by a Claymore called Clara. They journey together through both good and bad times, all the while learning about each other and their bond grows as they continue.

It has plenty of violence and gore but also has a much deeper side to it. Overall, you have to watch this anime right away.

Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry is an awesome video game that was adapted into an anime. Now, I know there are those properties that have been adapted into movies and simply put, haven’t really done well. Fortunately, anime has done justice to those adaptions and this is no exception as well.

Dante is a half demon, half human, and a smart mouth. He has a business called Devil May Cry, where he takes on missions to hunt down demons and other monsters. He uses his trusty sword Rebellion and his two guns Ebony and Ivory to take on the forces of evil with a smile.

It is a great adaption to watch. It got everything right from the games and even the character is spot on. If you like the game series then check out this show.

Ajin: Demi-Human

Ajin Demi-Human

Just always remember to never judge a book by it’s cover because you may never know what you are going to get.

Kei Nagai is a young man who doesn’t know much about some creatures that are known as Ajin. One day, he’s walking through the street and somehow survives an accident that could have killed him. Now, the world has branded him as an Ajin and he is on the run to stay alive.

This is a jam pack action thriller that will give you those chills you’ve been wanting for a while. You have to watch this series, Nuff said.

Terra Formars

Akari Hizamaru has been chosen to go on a mission to Mars. The reason for him going is his ability for combat and he may have to use his strength on this mission. He finds out that the planet is overrun by mutant cockroaches.

It is the ultimate survival of man versus monsters where no one can hear them scream.

Interesting story, fantastic art, Amazing soundtrack, and likable characters. Straight to the point, a must watch.

Gun-dou Musashi (Gun Samurai)

Gun Samurai

Miyamoto Musashi is a cry baby teenager, who’s on a quest for the love of the beautiful Kaguyahime. Despite being a whining boy, he can hold his own against demons, with his electro-sword and his gun. If everything goes his way, he will soon marry the love of his life.

This is a very funny series with some of the best action you’ll ever see. You have to watch this series.

Akame ga Kill!

Akame ga Kill!

This is the tales of a group of assassins known as Night Raids. It follows it’s newest member Tatsumi and the group, as they all go on missions and question the values of what they have done.

I’ve already talked about this on a previous list, so you pretty much know that you got to watch this series right now.
