Keyword Research – Find Untapped Niches that Generate $500/month on Autopilot
Hello online fanatics! Today I will show you this cool technique that will help you find low competition untapped niches that can generate decent passive income monthly.
Using Google.com
Ah Ha! Nobody would have thought that you should be using Big G himself to find out where the golden keywords are. Most people use the Google Keyword Planner to do their keyword research.
But since 90% of the people are using it brainstorm, it makes no sense to go there and do the same. Introducing Google.com~ Head over to the all mighty Google Search to find them.
What to Type In?
You go there to find out what’s new in your niche. The key is to find “Brand New” keywords that are not searched before. Not only is it untapped, there are usually less people writing about it. Which means – LESS COMPETITION!!!!
Let me show you what I mean:
Notice how the search volume spiked? When something is new, there is a new opportunity for you to get new traffic. You can find plenty of these untapped keywords by heading over to big sites that list things that are new. Below is the example used in the video.
I looked for a gaming site that was able to give me the top requested FAQs for certain games. I used GameFaqs.com as my example here and browsed the “Most Requested FAQs” section. That will give me a rough guideline on what type of information is needed.
I have chosen “Brave Frontier” as my game of choice as back then it was quite popular. It may not be at the top 100 anymore, but it does pretty well.
You obviously don’t need to that much traffic for other niches, but for gaming traffic, I will need more due to the traffic being less valuable.
Let’s show you a few other examples of other niches:
“New Movies 2015”
I picked “Avengers: Age of Ultron” as the example. It is due out in May 2015 at the time I am writing this(October 2014). it is a good 8 months away. Check out the search traffic:
It has quite a lot of searches(~200,000+) for a movie that is 8 months away from launching. You could start blogging about it now if you had an entertainment related blog. When the movie does coming out, it will give you extra traffic. Some other keywords to pay attention to:
- Avengers: Age of Ultron Review
- Would you watch Avengers: Age of Ultron
- Is Avengers: Age of Ultron a good movie
These will be some things movie addicts will search for. You should be the first in line to get them to find your site. 😀
Here is another example for a niche related to women and beauty products:
“New Beauty Products Fall 2014”
I was able to dig around and found “Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser” as a decent looking one.
Put that into the Google Keyword Planner and look:
Here is a brand new “buying” keyword that just popped out for you. Its not a lot of searches but you don’t need a lot of volume for buying keywords since most people are ready to buy. You could center your writing around:
- Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser Review
If you can’t find an affiliate for this product, recommend them other ones. Of course, you also have to write good content and provide valuable info.
Conclusion
With this simple trick, you can find awesome untapped niches to build authority or niche sites around it. Feel free to use it and find your own little gem!!
Absolutely awesome guide Kenny. I just stumbled onto your blog and your website is full of golden SEO advice. This post is one of the more useful ones I have found!
I just have a couple of questions. It would be great if you could answer them!
1. The problem with such keywords (new products, movies, TV shows) is that authority sites like Amazon, IMDB, etc. are already ranking at the top. Would it really be possible to beat these authority sites to the top?
2. The example you showed above (110 searches per month for a beauty product) seems to be an exception. Every new product or a product that’s yet to be launched seems to have zero search volume on the Google Keyword Planner. Does this really indicate the actual search volume, or has Google simply not collected enough data to show on the keyword planner?
3. I am thinking of creating parasite pages (wordpress.com. blogspot.com, rebelmouse.com, etc) and then blasting them with GSA to bring them to the top, so that a “viral” effect is created and the page is ranked very quickly.Do you think this would work?
Thanks in advance!
1) Depends, but usually I don’t go after those.
2) Even if they have no search volume, you will still get some traffic. Beauty products are usually hot items as women always buy them. Google sometimes doesnt give all the info either. Always go for it if you think you can get a good return from a certain product.
3) Yea. It would be better too if you link them all to your main site.
Very bad PDF.. It shows nothing.. You guys are a piece of shit. You guys want to rank your website in google. Thats it. Noone shows the exact examples.
Lol.
