General Thoughts
Kefka is a very good mage and is one of the better mages alongside Cloud of Darkness. Kefka can learn high level black magic. Most of his skills are AoE and is perfect for clearing more than 1 monster. With Bioga, he can poison Colosseum bosses and take off a significant amount of hp. Trine, which is an AoE magic skill that blinds and silences enemies, will reduce damage dealt to your team since they can’t cast spells and their attacks will miss. Hyperdrive ignores a portion of the enemy’s spirit stat, making him deal more damage.
It is also important to note that his Heartless Angel skill takes off 75% of regular mobs health, which works well against high hp Colosseum monsters. Makes the battle finish a lot quicker.
His Limit Burst is AoE and reduces elemental damage, which synergizes well with his AoE elemental skills like Thundaga and Blizzaga. I recommend equipping Cat’s Bell as accessory for more mp as he can run out of it if you cast them multiple times every round .
Escape comes in handy if you are tired of fighting in exploration maps.
The only few downsides of Kefka is his low attack, average equipment pool and he cannot use green or white magic. Make sure to pair him with ExDeath and another strong mage for some serious damage.
Verdict: Kefka for bosses and explorations, ExDeath for regular mobs.

Limit Burst
Kefka’s limit burst offers AoE magic damage and a decrease in elemental resistance.

Equipment
Kefka’s equipment selection is decent and gravitates towards mage type gear. He can’t use shields unfortunately.

Lore
A mage from another world where magic and espers once lived. He served the Gestahlian Empire, but his mind is twisted and warped. He hunts the espers to harvest magicite from them, and his lust for power explodes as it goes unchecked by those around him. He betrays his own emperor without a second thought, then lets the Warring Triad run wild. Amid the chaos, he is reborn as a god of destruction who wants nothing more than to see the world burn.
I’d like to bring up a few other negatives about Kefka.
Like most 3* mages, Kefka struggles with a low mp base and no innate ability to recover mp.
His best abilities, while pretty strong, are posed with a problem. They’re not magic, but magic-based abilities. He has no way to double cast those abilities and even dual wielding, they won’t be used twice (similar to Ashe with Heaven’s Fury)
Like most mages, his HP and defense stats are absolute trash. He’s more brittle than talc in a hurricane.
Equipment wise, it’s typical mage gear. But if you gear him for mp/magic, you’re leaving his hp dangerously low. Unless you buff him with the True Sage’s Prajna tmr from the FFXIV event, his hp will be terrible. Also remember, he lacks mp regen and only gets a 20% bonus to mp, so while his special abilities are pretty powerful, he doesn’t have the mp to sustain multiple castings and lack a way to double cast them
