General Thoughts

Kain is one of the main characters in FF4. He is best known for his jump attacks. He is a raw physical attacker and can only learn white magic.
He has a very special jump attack. The first turn, he jumps and becomes untargetable and attacks at the end of turn 1. At later levels, he gets a boost call High Jump, which increases his jump attacks by 100%. It is an incredibly helpful modifier as Kain will deal a lot more damage and take less damage since he can’t be targeted. At 5 stars, he learns dragon dive, a stronger attack than high jump. Coupled with the spear damage passive bonus(+20% damage) and power surge (+40% damage), his single target attacks is devastating.
He also does very well against dragons and is a great unit to have when fighting the snow dragon. His Hp/Mp drain skill is also relatively useful if you ever run out of mp in tough fights. His limit burst is a strong single target attack.
His weapon selection is limited at 4 but he can wear shields and various armors. The biggest downside to him is that he cannot be a 5 star yet. He also can’t use green or black magic.
Verdict: Use him as an attacker unless you can get the top tier units like Chizuru, WoL, CoD and Bartz.

Lore
A young man from a distant world where two moons rise in the sky. Leader of the dragoons, the elite regiment of Baron, he is both a loyal friend and strong rival to Cecil.
While possessing a strong sense of justice, he is not at ease expressing his emotions to others. Disillusioned at the actions of their king, he and Cecil both defect from their homeland, but become separated. He reappears as Cecil’s adversary, his true motivations unknown.
